King Harry's Cornwall Website

King Harry’s Cornwall (KHC) covers the area on the south coast of Cornwall surrounding the King Harry Ferry in Feock. The owners of the Ferry, who also operate a number of other services in the area, have joined up with over 70 local businesses to promote the region, offering visitors a hand-picked selection of places to stay and eat, and things to see and do – as well as the benefit of their very extensive and long established local knowledge.

KHC is a very energetic company with lots of information that they want to share with visitors. It was obvious from the start that the new website would grow quickly, with updates and new information being added daily. We wanted to facilitate this and present it in a way that was engaging and communicated the approachable, friendly character of the company, whilst reflecting the quality of its partners.

Working in partnership with LOOKsystems, who were commissioned to develop the programming for the site, our solution was to create a bulletin style website, built from blocks of information. The idea was that the blocks could be used to present a huge quantity and variety of information – from the latest news, to interactive Google maps, to ferry timetables – with a sense of orderliness that would make the website simple to navigate and information quick and easy to find.

The result was a modular website allowing great flexibility: selecting from a menu of predefined page templates and ‘ready-made’ blocks, KHC can launch a competition, add a new bed and breakfast or report the sighting of a basking shark in just a few minutes.
